PARTY FAVORS
Chicago's man about town Clayton Hauck recounts his time spent immersed in the nightlife scene

As I write this, it's in the mid-70s in Chicago, and that makes me happy! With the weather finally warming up, the party scene is sure to follow. Luckily for me, I was able to bypass some of the bitter cold by spending much of March in Austin for SXSW and Miami for Winter Music Conference. Both events were crazy and both also featured tons of awesome artists from Chicago.

Austin was a half-week of fun in the sun. It's amazing how many of our hometown bands played during the SXSW music festival: Walter Meego, Mic Terror, Flosstradamus, Hollywood Holt, Million $ Mano and Cool Kids all represented our city, in addition to dozens of other Chicago bands (like Sybris, Catfish Haven and Tom Schraeder) I didn't have the privilege to watch perform.

Miami was a similar scenario. Highlights included a fantastic DJ set by England's Erol Alkan, a fun performance from Calvin Harris and plenty of time in the hotel swimming pool. Chicago also made a big showing down in Miami by the likes of Zebo, Roy Davis Jr., Hollywood Holt, Chuck Inglish, Mano and DJ Funk, among others.

Back home in Chicago, April has passed by at a more casual pace. All the usual suspects of weekly parties have been keeping everyone entertained. Rehab, the Monday night bash at evilOlive, welcomed Bald Eagle -- who was just announced as one of the participating artists at this summer's Lollapalooza -- to the mixer along with residents Jordan Z and Derek Berry. Way to go Bald Eagle!

The other familiar weekly party, Outdanced, Tuesdays at Funky Buddha, welcomed Riot In Belgium all the way from Australia. The Dark Wave DJs (Trancid and Mark Gertz) warmed up the crowd.

Heather Doble and Ryan Paradise opened up Avant Trill's Fridays at Debonair Social Club, which also brought in New York City nightlife personality Larry Tee. The kids were dancing all night, and afterward everyone headed over to the new space called Members Only for DJs Ray Protege and Skyler along with MC Mic Terror.

As always, you can see photos from these and other events on the website everyoneisfamous.com.
